Mythos, oil pastels on paper, 2009

Abstract.  Mythical.

Tall rushes of cane rattle in the evening breeze. An ultramarine blue wave breaks upon a tropical shore.  A mythical creature sits like Ganesha the elephant-headed god beneath the Axis Mundi Beach Umbrella, the Giant Tentacled Squid who divides the world into equal parts Sunset and Evening.

Here and Now.   The Past and just a few minutes ago, which is the Present as we remember it.  It is like the glow of a spectacular sunset the date of which we’ll never remember.
